Email marketing is a form of direct marketing which uses electronic mail to enable you to communicate directly with your prospect or potential customer.
It is believed to be one of the most difficult yet most rewarding methods of promoting products or services online. Through the years, email marketers have devised different methods to suit to prevailing technology and business trend of the time. But even with the evolution of the email marketing process, the three most important aspects of email marketing prevailed. Here they are:
1. The sign-up form
The sign up form is the first and most important part of the process. It makes people voluntarily submit their information in order to receive your newsletter or email campaign.
It is the only [legal] process which allows you to email people about your products or services.
To enable your visitors to see your sign up form, place your main form as well as your strongest points at the top of your website.
You should place more than one sign up form within the page so that you can create multiple sign up opportunities.
Make the sign up process easier for your readers. Do not ask them to provide sensitive information. This will discourage them from signing up.
2. The emails
Once you have the names and email addresses of your prospect, you will now be able to send quality emails to your prospects. You should however take note that a majority of promotional emails are not opened or they are simply sent to the spam box.
But this should not discourage you because email marketing is really not that bad. It is in fact second only to search marketing as the most effective online marketing method.
You also need an auto-responder which sends new signups their first email. Make your first email compelling enough to entice your prospects to open your future emails.
3. The conversion process
The conversion process or the process of converting your prospects into customers is the most difficult part of the email marketing system. This is a very sensitive part of the system that needs careful planning.
Relevant information or free items can compel readers to reciprocate. This could be the start of a new relationship which could go further into some future business deals. Try new ways if you find that your emails are not converting. In email marketing, experimenting is the only way to see results.
