YouTube is the biggest and most popular video hosting site in the world. Millions of viewers visit it every day and thousands upload new videos on it on a daily basis. It is a good venue for learning, watching sports, music videos, funny moments or important events in the lives of real people.
Everybody who has an account with YouTube has the privilege to upload his or her own videos to the site. But it can be a bit confusing if you are a new to this, and you need to know the steps for uploading video on YouTube.
1. Save your video in your computer
It is assumed that you already have an existing video and an Internet connection to make this possible. The first thing you need to do is to save that video in your computer then access your Internet and open YouTube. Sign in with your account and password.
2. Upload your video
Upload your video by clicking on the upload option at the top right of your screen.
The upload utility gives you four options. It lets you choose videos from your computer, record from a web camera, or simply drag the selected video to the screen to upload it. Since you want to upload a file from your computer, you should click on this option.
The screen will now take you to your computer’s hard disk where you will access your file. Double click on that file then click the “open” button.
This will allow YouTube to upload your file. A black bar at the top of the screen lets you know of the progress of your uploading.
3. Enter video details
Enter your video details such as its title, description and tags in their appropriate boxes. Optimize your video by placing your keywords in all three boxes. This will enable Google to rank your video and make it more accessible to web searchers.
At about this time, YouTube will show you some thumbnails of your video at the bottom of your screen. Select one of them as your default thumbnail. This thumbnail will appear each time someone types your keyword in the YouTube search box.
When uploading is finished, YouTube will prompt you with the “upload complete” message. It will give you the option to embed the URL on your webpage.
4. Choose your category and privacy settings
Select the appropriate category where you intend your video to be placed. After this, you need to set your privacy setting.
Your privacy setting allows you to control the exposure of your videos. If you want everyone to access it on the web, the public option would be your best choice. If you want to show it only to people who have the link, choose the unlisted option. But if your video is intended only for people of your choice, the private option would be your best choice.
After this, YouTube will also ask you for your license option. Select the standard YouTube license for this.
After completing these steps, your video would already be available for viewing.
