Addiction is considered as one of the major problems our society facing today. Growing by leaps and bounds makes it a national and international problem. There are several reasons why addiction happens other than popular knowledge why people become addicted.
Here are some that I've learned.
Genetics. A study confirmed it that addiction is caused by our genes. For example if you have an alcoholic parents there might a high probability that you will become more addictive than your parents . But this does no mean that genetics alone is enough to consider
addiction in place.
Trauma. Trauma has a great effect in becoming addictive whether on drugs, alcohol, or sex. Sometimes when a person has a background of sexual abused this could trigger his/her addiction to sex. People who have post traumatic stress might often used alcohol or drugs to make them calm momentarily.
Shame. We feel shame if we know that we don't fit in. The feeling of shame is a great factor that one will take a substance in order to get rid of his/her shame.
There will be more next time. It's just that I'm feeling sleepy right now.
